Samsung’s new software update, One UI 7, is arriving with major innovations, but it may disappoint some users. It appears that not all of the Galaxy AI features introduced with the Galaxy S25 series will be available for older devices. So, which features will be available to whom? Here are the details…
Not all Galaxy AI features will be available for older models
Samsung introduced One UI 7 alongside the Galaxy S25 series, and this update is particularly notable for its AI-powered innovations. However, not all of the Galaxy AI features will be available on older Galaxy models. According to Samsung’s senior executive Sally Jeong, some AI features will only work on devices with powerful hardware.

It’s noted that features like “Now Brief” will require significant processing power and specific hardware. The Snapdragon 8 Elite processor in the Galaxy S25 series is specially designed for handling advanced AI tasks, which older Galaxy models lack, making it impossible to implement some of these features on them.
Additionally, Samsung has divided its AI features into two categories: device-based AI and cloud-based AI. Since cloud-based features can work on a wider range of devices, innovations like “Circle to Search” are expected to be available for older models. However, AI features that rely on powerful processors may not make it to older phones.
Samsung has yet to fully disclose the rollout plans for One UI 7, leaving users waiting. Leaks suggest that the update may arrive as early as April. The fact that some expected AI features won’t be available on older devices is likely to upset owners of older Galaxy phones.
