Samsung is preparing to shake up the foldable phone market once again with the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6: New information from sources close to the company suggests that both devices will come with a new dustproof certification as well as water resistance.
Samsung, Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 will be both waterproof and dustproof
As you know, a major leak last week about Samsung’s next-generation foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6, revealed almost everything about the devices. Even marketing images and press materials about these devices, which will be officially announced at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10, have leaked.
One of the most important innovations revealed in the leak involves a change so small that it might be overlooked at first glance, but it’s a big change in terms of impact. Foldable phones, which have been waterproof for quite a long time, will also have dust resistance with the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6.
As you know, foldable phones had a very fragile structure at the very beginning. Foldable phones with fragile screens that do not have water resistance and break quite quickly, first became water resistant with the IPX8 certificate added by Samsung.
The dustproof feature called IP48 has been seen as one of the biggest problems of foldable phones since its release. In this field, Samsung will again break new ground and launch the first foldable phone with both IPX8 and IP48 certification.
Even a single grain of dust can cause major damage to these new generation devices, which have places where dust and debris can enter due to the hinge mechanism and have more moving parts than a standard smartphone. In this sense, Samsung’s new certification is of great importance.
