Following many rumors, the first renders based on the alleged final design of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 have leaked. This leak shows that Samsung will implement significant improvements in the seventh generation of its new foldable phone. In addition to a much thinner and wider body, the device is also expected to feature higher-resolution cameras, larger screens, and other improvements.
What will the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 look like?
According to information published in partnership with the website OnLeaks and Android Headlines, the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s appearance will be similar to the Z Fold 6. However, significant changes need to be made to the device’s dimensions, starting with the most critical thickness. You can watch the video of the device’s design below.
The new foldable device, which will be only 4.5 mm thick when opened, will reach 9.5 mm thick when closed. This means that the device will be 1.1 mm thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s 5.6 mm when open, and 2.6 mm thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s 12.1 mm when closed. On paper, the differences seem small. But in the end, it’s enough to put the Z Fold 7 on par with its thinner rivals.
Three comparisons put the scenario in better context. The recently released OPPO Find N5, considered the world’s thinnest foldable phone, is 4.21mm thick, while the second-placed HONOR Magic V3 is 4.4mm thick. Finally, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, developed to compete with its Chinese rivals and exclusive to Asia, has a body diameter of 4.9mm.
The leak also brings good news about the cameras. These will be very similar to the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition’s cameras, bringing the Z Fold 7 closer to the Galaxy S series. In addition to the 200MP main sensor, there will be a 12MP ultrawide and a 10MP telephoto, a 10MP external selfie lens, and a 4MP internal lens under the foldable display.
Apart from that, the rumor mentions the presence of the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, although it is not clear whether Samsung will use the simpler 7-core version optimized for foldable smartphones. The same 4,400 mAh battery as the previous generations could still bring improvements thanks to the more optimized chip.
