Forza Horizon 4 is being removed from digital stores like Steam. As of December 2024, Forza Horizon 4 will no longer be available for purchase on the Microsoft Store and Steam. What does this mean for those who have already purchased the game? Will the game still be playable? Here are the details…
Forza Horizon 4 is being removed from Steam and Microsoft stores
Playground Games has stated that the removal of the legendary Forza Horizon 4 is due to licensing and partnership agreements. Since these agreements are expiring, the game will no longer be sold. Such situations usually arise from real-life car and music licenses. This issue is not unique to racing games; many types of content linked to licensing agreements can encounter similar problems.
The last event for the game before its removal from Steam and Microsoft stores will take place from July 25 to August 22. This event will be a final opportunity to celebrate the game and give players one last racing thrill. However, some achievements may be locked after this date.
Starting today, the game’s DLCs are also being removed from digital stores. If you played the game via Xbox Game Pass and purchased some DLCs, you will receive a token to download the full version of the game. These codes can be used until June 25, 2026.
There is no need for those who have already purchased Forza Horizon 4 to worry, as the game’s servers will remain active even if it is no longer available on Steam. Both offline and online modes will continue to be playable. Those who have purchased the game and those with a valid Xbox Game Pass subscription will still be able to play.
Forza Horizon 4 will continue to be with us for more than six years after it is removed from digital stores. Although Forza Horizon 5 is a good sequel, it is hard to get used to the short lifespan of digital games. However, this is a reality of the digital world.
