Things are not going well for Helldivers 2, which has been making waves all over the world in recent months. The game, which saw a few daily increases in the number of active players, could not get away with even the latest update. Developer Arrow Game even stated that they could “make the DLC pack better”.
Why is the Helldivers 2 update being criticized?
Shams Jorjani, CEO of Arrow Game Studios, addressed criticism of the Escalation Of Freedom update. He said that many of the changes, such as a new enemy type and a new biome, were welcomed. However, he also expressed dissatisfaction with the balancing changes.
In particular, nerfs to popular weapons like the flamethrower left players unable to kill enemies despite long efforts. This even resulted in thousands of negative comments, causing the Steam rating to drop to Mixed.
CEO Jorjani asked for time from the players due to the long development time. “Of course I haven’t spoken to everyone, but most of us are frustrated on a number of levels, and I think more broadly, we’re also discussing the way forward and what we can do to avoid this situation again,” he said.
Jorjani also pledged to improve communication with the player base to better understand what they want. The goal will be to deliver future updates through continuous improvement. This will be seen as “a step in the right direction” for the company.
Jorjani also acknowledged that just talking is not enough. This is why they took action after Escalation Of Freedom.
