Apple dropped the bomb in the last parts of the WWDC 2024 event and officially announced the Siri – ChatGPT integration that everyone has been waiting for. Let’s take a look at how the integration we have been waiting for weeks will work.
Siri will answer your questions through ChatGPT-4o!
Apple announced that it will integrate Siri with external models to improve user experiences and the first integration of this process will be ChatGPT. Powered by GPT-4o technology, this integration allows Siri to direct users’ questions to ChatGPT and generate answers with their permission.
With the new features, users will be able to ask questions about documents, photos or PDFs and compose their writing with ChatGPT’s Compose feature. ChatGPT will also be available in Apple’s system-wide Writing Tools to help users create context for everything they write. Users will also be able to use ChatGPT’s image tools to create images in a wide variety of styles to complement their writing.
Not only that, but for example, if you share a photo of your patio with Siri and ask, “What kind of ornamental plants can I put here?” Siri will first ask for permission to share this information with ChatGPT, and once you give consent, it will forward your question and the image to GPT-4o.
Siri then shows you the answers given by ChatGPT. Moreover, access to ChatGPT will be free and users will not need to create an account. Requests will not be recorded. ChatGPT subscribers will have access to paid features within these experiences.
These innovations will be available with iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS Sequoia. Craig Federighi also announced that support for other AI models is planned for the future. What do you think about the Siri – ChatGPT integration? Please don’t forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments.
