After the unexpected market success of the Oura Ring, Samsung’s appetite for the smart ring market has grown, leading to its entry with the Samsung Galaxy Ring. With the announcement of the Viv Ring at CES 2025, the focus is now on improving sleep patterns. But the device offers more than just that… Here are the details!
Viv Ring Offers Personalized Sleep Sounds
Developed by the South Korean digital health startup Viv Health, the Viv Ring not only provides biometric measurements but also promises a personalized sleep experience. In addition to standard features such as heart rate, stress levels, blood oxygen levels, activity, and sleep tracking, the smart ring generates AI-powered sleep sounds based on your biometric data. Viv Health refers to this technology as “generative sleep-supportive sound technology.”
Viv Ring combines natural sounds like ocean waves, bird songs, deep-sea breezes, and rain with monoaural and binaural sound tones, analyzing all the data from the biosensors.
The company claims that these personalized sounds significantly improve sleep quality. However, scientific research on this subject has yet to reach a definitive conclusion. Studies on the effects of sounds like white and pink noise on sleep offer different opinions, but Viv’s AI-based approach could initiate a new phase in this discussion.
Before the standard version of the Viv Ring even hits the market, the company has also announced a more advanced version. Expected to be introduced in late 2025, the Pro version stands out with features like continuous blood pressure monitoring and atrial fibrillation (AFib) detection. In addition to the PPG sensors used for blood pressure measurement, the ultrasonic pressure sensors introduced by Novosound at CES 2025 could revolutionize this area.
Viv Health is working on obtaining the necessary approvals for the ring, which is planned for release next month. Do you think this technology could be the solution to sleep issues? Don’t forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments!
