Snapchat has announced two new features users have been eagerly awaiting: Infinite Keeping and Group Streaks. In addition to the ability to disappear messages, the app now allows conversations to be saved indefinitely.
Snapchat will bring permanence to chats
Infinite Keeping is turned on and off individually for each chat. The other party is notified of this setting change with a notification. This allows users to make conversations permanent and maintain complete control.

Snapchat has been testing this feature since 2024. Previously, saving messages required manual saving, but the new setting makes the process more intuitive. Users can activate this feature with any friend they choose, and those who don’t can turn it off with a single tap.
Another innovation that strengthens the app’s social aspect is Group Streaks. Streaks, previously maintained only by sending photos or videos between individuals, are now shared with groups of friends. Groups can maintain these streaks through daily interactions. What’s more, even if a group streak ends, users have the opportunity to revive it within a week.
With these new features, Snapchat adds the permanence of traditional social media platforms to its instant and disappearing messaging identity. This demonstrates that the app has become a tool not only for quick and fleeting communication but also for preserving important memories and conversations.
These steps reflect Snapchat’s goal of expanding its user base while increasing the time spent on the platform by existing users and providing them with a richer communication experience.
