Qualcomm’s next-generation chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite, has made a significant leap in gaming performance. The chip, which has an Adreno 830 graphics processor, managed to run a graphics-intensive game like Cyberpunk 2077 with a stable 60 FPS at low graphics settings and 720p resolution with the emulator. Here are the details

We previously reported that Snapdragon 8 Elite ran Red Dead Redemption with 160 FPS. Today, the new chip of the flagships came up with the Cyberpunk 2077 test. With this impressive performance, we can say that the Snapdragon 8 Elite is about twice as good in emulation capabilities compared to its predecessors.

For example, the previous Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip could only run the same game at 30 FPS. The new chip’s power is particularly notable for outperforming AMD’s integrated Radeon 780M graphics unit in some tests. The emulator used in the tests is still under development and this performance could be further improved with more optimized software.

Snapdragon 8 Elite to support 8 years of update

It is also thought to take advantage of AMD’s frame generation technologies such as FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution). But despite all these advancements, it may be a while before this level of performance is standardized across every device due to the diversity of hardware in the Android ecosystem.

Still, the Snapdragon 8 Elite proves that the adaptation of mobile platforms to PC gaming is accelerating, and that native AAA game ports may become more common on mobile devices in the future. In short, judging by the performance in tests so far, this development is definitely exciting for gamers.
