The processor competition in the smartphone market is getting hotter every day. The last ring of this competition is between Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, Dimensity 9400 and Apple’s A18 Pro processors. Especially in terms of performance, these three chipsets are in a big race. So which one is better? Here are the details…
Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 takes the top spot in multi-core performance: A18 Pro maintains lead in single-core
First of all, Apple has taken the lead in single-core performance with the A18 Pro processor. The A18 Pro, which scored 3,400 points in Geekbench 6 tests, is unrivaled in this field for now. MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 is in the middle with 2,800 points, while the leaked test results of Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 surpass Dimensity with 3,100 points, but it lags behind Apple.
But things change when it comes to multi-core performance. Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 took the lead here with 10,052 points. It also managed to push its biggest rival, the Apple A18 Pro, down to third place with 8,700 points. MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 is sandwiched between these two chipsets with 9,000 points.
Of course, with so much talk about performance, efficiency cannot be ignored. Apple’s A18 Pro outperforms the Dimensity 9400 in terms of energy efficiency. The question is how this superiority in Snapdragon 8 Gen 4’s multi-core performance will affect energy efficiency.
Qualcomm’s previous chipsets have lagged behind Apple in this regard, but this new processor could change the picture. Of course, it’s too early to tell, but it will be interesting to see how Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 balances high performance with energy efficiency.
Judging by the results, a serious battle is coming in the processor world. Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 may have taken the lead in multi-core performance, but Apple is holding its own in single-core performance with the A18 Pro. We will see where this competition will evolve.
