SolidddVision smart glasses, introduced by Soliddd at CES 2025, offer a solution for individuals with vision loss due to macular degeneration. This innovative technology aims to correct and even restore lost central vision in individuals whose visual centre has been damaged.
What is Macular Degeneration?
Macular degeneration affects the retinal area responsible for detailed and sharp vision, making it difficult for people to recognise faces, read and see clearly. These glasses, developed by Soliddd, project multiple images onto intact areas of the retina using advanced lens technology and artificial intelligence-supported software. This allows the brain to combine information from undamaged areas to create a full, focused image.
SolidddVision glasses attract attention with their lightweight design and user-friendly structure. The company can direct the image to undamaged areas on the retina with its ‘fly-eye’ lens arrays. This technology has been supported by a clinical study that increases reading ability by 50 per cent in individuals with visual impairment.
Neal Weinstock, CEO of Soliddd, said: ‘SolidddVision is the first technology to provide true vision correction for macular degeneration. These glasses can create images even in areas of the patient’s visual field where they could not see anything before,’ said Neal Weinstock, emphasising the importance of the product.
SolidddVision glasses have been honoured with significant achievements such as the Accessibility Award at CES 2025 and Techlicious Editor’s Choice awards. To date, the company has received $1.5 million in investment and has developed this innovation, which is the product of 15 years of work.
These glasses, which can be a beacon of hope for 200 million people with vision loss, are considered as a groundbreaking step in health technology. What do you think about this? We are waiting for your opinions in the comments.
