Sony Honda Mobility Reveals Technical Specifications of the Efeela SUV
According to the companies, Afeela is no longer just an electric sedan; it’s now designed to compete with Tesla’s recent price reductions, alongside a “budget-friendly” compact model. The first model to be produced under the Afeela brand will be an electric sedan slated to arrive in 2025, with an introductory price tag of 61,500 euros.
The model, equipped with over 45 sensors and cameras, will utilize Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor with 800 TOPS computing capacity for features like ADAS and infotainment. Developed in collaboration with Sony, Afeela boasts impressive screen technology and infotainment system capabilities.
Honda has confirmed plans to produce a dual-motor electric model delivering 482 horsepower, coupled with a yet-to-be-disclosed battery capacity. This SUV model, anticipated for release in 2027, will adopt a high-price policy.
To balance the pricing strategy of the Afeela brand, the companies will introduce a compact electric model to the lineup in 2028. Sony Honda Mobility has affirmed that all three vehicles will share the same platform, enabling cost efficiency and accelerated development.
Technological advancements such as autonomous driving and in-car gaming are envisioned as part of the potential sales pitch, made possible by Sony’s partnership with Epic Games. Industry analysts anticipate a surge in sales, with over 10 million electric vehicles projected to hit the roads by 2023.
