The world-famous Japanese technology giant Sony has decided to raise PS5 prices once again at home. PlayStation 5 , which was released all over the world in 2020 , has reached its peak in price once again by increasing its price for the third time in Japan. Here are the details and new pricing…
PS5 prices have increased by nearly $90!
Sony has decided to raise PlayStation 5 prices in Japan once again. The PS5, which was released in 2020 and has been very popular since then, has faced a price increase for the third time in Japan. The company explained this price increase with the fluctuations in the global economic situation and the negative effects of external environmental factors on its business.
According to Sony Interactive Entertainment, both the standard and digital versions of the PS5 will see a price increase of 13,000 yen (about $90) as of September 2, 2024. With this increase, the standard PS5 will cost 79,980 yen (about $552), while the digital version will cost 72,980 yen (about $504).
The price hike isn’t just limited to PS5 consoles, but also includes various PlayStation accessories. For example, the DualSense wireless controllers will go up in price to 11,480 yen (about $79), while the PlayStation VR2 will be priced at 89,980 yen (about $621).
These price increases are seen as a reflection of the difficult economic conditions Sony is facing in the Japanese market. In particular, fluctuations in exchange rates and general inflation pressure may have been influential in the tech giant’s decision. The company has not yet made a statement on whether similar price increases will occur globally.
