Sony is reportedly working on a new PlayStation 5 bundle to increase demand for PlayStation Plus. According to reports, this version will include a PlayStation 5 console and a PS Plus Premium subscription. Sony will also provide a 24-month fixed Premium subscription as part of the package.
PS5 bundle with PS Plus Premium may be announced
Leaked images on Twitter indicate that Sony intends to sell a PS5 console along with a 24-month PlayStation Plus Premium subscription. Sony recently stated that only 30% of PS Plus subscribers are subscribed to Premium and Extra. With this move, Sony aims to boost demand for its more expensive subscriptions.
Data from March 2023 revealed that PS Plus Premium had eight million subscribers, accounting for 17% of total subscriptions. Additionally, the Extra tier had 6.1 million subscribers, making up 13% of total subscriptions. The remaining 33.3 million subscribers were on the Essential tier.
Last week, Sony announced that it had started testing “cloud support for PS5 games” exclusively for Premium subscribers. The cloud streaming feature will allow playing PS5 games from the Premium catalog on any platform.
The initially supported games include titles such as Far Cry 6, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, Tacoma, and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Sony will also provide a chance to experience PS Plus for free in Europe and the US between June 24th and 25th.
The PlayStation 5 bundle featuring PlayStation Plus Premium has not been confirmed by Sony yet. However, if this bundle is accurate, it will be an attractive option for users who want to both purchase a console and subscribe to PS Plus.
