Sony, one of the important names on the gaming side, has taken a big step in bringing exclusive PlayStation games to mobile. PlayStation Studios Mobile is established. Sony already offers some exclusive PlayStation games for PC. One of the last to make a sound in this regard was God of War. In this way, the company, which earns more money from the games, will take bigger steps for the process in the future.
What does PlayStation Studios Mobile offer?
According to an official post made in the past months, almost half of the company’s exclusive games will be on PC and mobile in 2025. Stating that PS4-compatible games will continue to arrive in 2024, Sony will start to release only PS5 games from its studios as of 2025.
Today, the firm has focused specifically on the mobile gaming side. In a press release, Sony announced that it has purchased the game company Savage Game Studios. According to the statement, Savage Game Studios will be under the newly established PlayStation Studios Mobile division. As it is said, this section will carry PlayStation’s released and upcoming special games to mobile and will do important work for more people to enter the PlayStation world independently by the console.
About the subscription system
The company made a sound with the new PlayStation Plus packages, which are considered as Game Pass rivals, although which was not the same. As a reminder, players who are PS+ Extra subscribers will have access to over 400 PS4 and PS5 games, as in Game Pass, in addition to Essential opportunities. Exclusive games signed by PlayStation Studios will be presented here, as well as other studios. The game library in the package will be updated from time to time with new releases. However, as in Game Pass, Sony will not be available for new exclusive games on day one.
In addition to Essential and Extra, PS+ Premium subscribers will have access to more than 340 extra games. There will be PS3 games that will be streamed over the cloud. Also, original PlayStation games, PS2 and PSP games can also be played by downloading or over the cloud. In this package, there will also be the opportunity to try demos for new games.
More major game companies are looking to bring their games to mobile, a tactic that has proved profitable for some studios so far. In June, data from Sensor Tower showed that the mobile version of Genshin Impact raked in $154 million in gross revenue, with PUBG Mobile and Pokémon Go close behind. Take-Two tapped into the mobile market with its acquisition of Zynga in January, while Activision plans to bring Call of Duty Warzone to mobile as well.
