Elon Musk’s space company, SpaceX, is preparing for the tenth test flight of its massive rocket, Starship. This flight will be a critical test not only for the hardware’s performance but also for the company’s ability to recover from recent setbacks. The launch, scheduled for 2:30 a.m. Turkish time, will take place from the Starbase facility in Texas.
SpaceX Prepares for a New Test Flight
This test flight for SpaceX follows challenges it has faced in recent months. The last flight, three months ago, marked a success with the first reusable Super Heavy rocket.

However, the mission ended when Starship disintegrated upon re-entry and exploded during the Super Heavy’s landing attempt. Following this incident, another Starship, preparing for its tenth flight, exploded on the ground during a static ignition test, rendering the test pad unusable.
While the company’s “build-fly-fix-repeat” philosophy provides valuable data with each flight, upper stage losses raise questions about when Starship will be ready for commercial and NASA missions.
Starship, which made its maiden flight in April 2023, has made significant progress since then. A booster re-flight in May demonstrated the feasibility of rapid reuse. However, the primary goal of recovering and re-flying the upper stage intact has not yet been achieved.
SpaceX is known to have invested more than $7.5 billion in Starbase to date for the growing program. The company also presented a $1.8 billion spending plan for new launch pads in Florida.
