Spotify has launched the “Messages” feature so users can easily share their favorite music, podcasts, and audiobooks with friends and family. With this feature, you can now share and comment on the content you’re listening to within a single conversation.
How Does Messages Work on Spotify?
According to Spotify, Messages lets you share what you’re listening to, react with text and emojis, and message friends and family. To share a song, podcast, or audiobook you’re listening to, tap the share icon on the Playing screen and select a friend.

After accepting the message request, you can react with emojis, send texts, and easily continue sharing Spotify content. You can access Messages by going to your profile photo in the top left corner.
Spotify has implemented several measures to ensure user security. Chats are protected with industry-standard encryption when data is stored and in motion. The platform uses proactive detection technology to detect illegal and harmful content. If you deem a message inappropriate, you can easily report it or block the user. You can also disable the Messages feature entirely through settings.
Spotify states that this new feature is not intended to replace sharing via platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, but rather is designed to complement them.
