Spotify reached its highest numbers ever in terms of both subscriber numbers and revenue in the first quarter of 2025. 5 million new paid users joined the platform between January and March, bringing the total number of premium subscribers to 268 million. The company, which achieved 12% growth compared to the same period last year, is steadily expanding its user base.
Spotify breaks revenue record in 2025
According to the financial data announced by the company, an operating income of exactly $528 million was achieved in this quarter. Total revenue reached $4.8 billion. These results reinforced Spotify’s leadership in the sector not only in the number of users but also in profitability.

The company, which has been working on a profitable growth model for a long time, seems to have come very close to this goal in the first three months of 2025. Spotify’s total monthly active users were announced as 678 million. 423 million of these are free users supported by advertising.
However, there is a difference of approximately 13 million people between the total announced number of users and the calculated figures. This inconsistency indicated that there may be some uncertainties regarding the platform’s user data.
Spotify maintains its strong position in the digital music market thanks to its wide range of content, personalized recommendation systems and global reach. While criticism continues, especially regarding the payments made to artists and the revenue sharing model, the company’s increase in both subscriber and advertising revenues has attracted considerable attention.
