Starlink will give free internet to phones, but on one condition

Starlink will provide internet to phones in emergencies. Even non-subscribers will be served by satellite.

Elon Musk made important statements about SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet connection. According to Musk’s post, Starlink will provide free internet access in emergencies for cell phones around the world.

The CEO of SpaceX said in a post the other day that the company “can’t face a situation where someone dies because they forgot to make an emergency call or couldn’t pay.” He said that free access through Starlink could help people stranded in rural areas.

SpaceX promises internet service from space with Starlink satellites in low Earth orbit. The work that has been carried out for some time aims to beam the cellular connection of the satellites directly to smartphones. Thus, it will be able to access the internet on cell phones without a Starlink terminal.

The system announced by Musk will allow even those who do not subscribe to the Starlink service to access the internet in emergencies. It is unclear how the service will work, but it could work similar to the Emergency SOS feature of iPhone and Android devices using satellites.

SpaceX aims to operate the Starlink system commercially, subject to approvals from US regulators. In partnership with T-Mobile, the service will provide internet to smartphones. It should be noted that it faces pressure from rival companies such as AT&T and Verizon.
