The highly anticipated official announcement regarding Starlink’s Turkey plans has arrived. Ministry sources denied claims that SpaceX’s space-based internet service would launch in Turkey in 2026. This issue posed a significant question mark for the company, which serves more than 7 million people in more than 150 countries.
What did Ministry sources say about Starlink’s Turkey plans?
Ministry sources speaking to CNBC-e responded clearly to the claims. The sources stated, “Starlink is not on our agenda,” undermining the 2026 expectations. Therefore, the service is not expected to come to Turkey anytime soon.

SpaceX recently celebrated a significant achievement in a post on X. The company noted that it has been five years since serving its first paying customer. It also stated that they currently provide high-speed internet to more than 7 million people in more than 150 countries.
The company is continuously improving its service quality. By 2025, Starlink’s average peak-hour speed increased by more than 50 percent. Average download speeds exceeded 200 Mbps, and upload speeds exceeded 30 Mbps. To date, more than 10,000 Starlink satellites have been launched aboard Falcon 9 rockets, and 8,608 of them are currently in service.
The service has been launched in several new countries, including Montserrat, the Falkland Islands, and Liechtenstein. However, despite having coverage, it cannot yet be extended to Turkey due to a lack of legal permission.
