Steam has set a new record for concurrent players, driven by recent game releases. According to Valve, the digital store reached 37.8 million concurrent players in the last hour. This beats the previous record of 37.6 million set a week ago.
Steam concurrent players surpass 37.8 million
New releases that players have shown great interest in have played an important role in the growth of Steam’s current user base. Black Myth: Wukong, Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2 and Satisfactory 1.0 have made a big impact on Steam.
But it’s not just new games that are breaking records. Old and popular games like PUBG: Battlegrounds, which increased its player numbers over the past year, also saw a resurgence. In fact, the most played game on Steam was Counter-Strike: Global Offensive with more than 1.4 million concurrent players.
Right behind it is PUBG with 687 thousand players: Battlegrounds. The Banana game, which was prepared purely for joking purposes, appeared in third place with 375 thousand more players.
Games such as Frostbite 2, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Marvel Rivals are expected to be released until the New Year. So it’s safe to say that Steam’s player numbers could set new records. Valve’s own Deadlock may also contribute to the rise by creating great excitement.

Whether these records will last or not remains to be seen. However, it is possible to say that Steam players break records almost every week.
