Valve has announced a major update that will allow game developers to more effectively promote their games and additional content on the Steam platform. The new change will give developers more opportunities on the Steam Store page and make it easier for players to discover games.
New update to Steam Store page: Developers can now recommend similar games and feature DLCs
Developers now have the ability to recommend similar games in the “related projects” section of their game’s store page. For example, Sony will be able to recommend a similar game like “Assassin’s Creed: Shadow” on its “Ghost of Tsushima” page. Similarly, Ubisoft will be able to highlight the PC version of “ God of War ” on its “Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla” page.
This feature will be beneficial for both gamers and game developers, making it easier for players to discover new and interesting games, while helping developers expand their audience. In addition, significant improvements have been made to the visual layout of the Steam store page.
Developers will be able to highlight their games’ DLC (downloadable content) in a larger, more prominent way, which will help them gain more player traction, especially for games that offer major content updates or expansion packs.
The new features will give developers the opportunity to promote their games and content more strategically, while also saving players from content they may not be interested in. Discovering games and finding new content on the Steam platform will thus be easier and faster.
