Valve’s pride and the most preferred gaming platform by players, Steam, announced through its official social media account that a brand new feature is on the horizon. According to this, the most critical moments of games can now be automatically recorded as videos. Thus, the necessity of using third-party applications will be eliminated.
No need for a different application with Game Recording
As we move into the middle of 2024, trends in both the gaming and social media worlds have changed significantly. It’s as if we feel like we’re not doing something unless we’re sharing it. In this sense, Valve has come up with a great innovation to allow players to share their most interesting, exciting, or enjoyable moments.
Steam’s new Game Recording feature will allow you to automatically record your games in the background. This way, when you achieve an epic victory or make a funny mistake, you won’t have to struggle with keyboard shortcuts or different software to capture that moment.
The game on Steam, The Descendant, is breaking records. The adventure game, first released in 2016, has reached over 100,000 players.
You will be able to trim the recorded videos as you wish, send them to your friends on Steam, or save them on your computer in any format you desire.
With this new feature, we can say that Steam is competing with Nvidia’s powerful video recording tool, Shadowplay. The fact that Valve’s application provides an integrated solution directly and eliminates the need to use third-party software shows that it could dominate the market in the new era.

- Go to Steam > Settings in Steam.
- Click on the ‘Interface’ button in the opened tab.
- Click on ‘Participate in Client Beta’ and select ‘Steam Beta Update.’
- At this stage, Steam will restart, and you will have access to all features that come with the Beta, including video recording.
