Although Windows 11 has seen a small decline in overall market share recently, it continues to rise in the gaming world. According to December Steam statistics released by Valve, the Windows 11 user rate has reached a new high. Currently, 54.96% of Steam users prefer Windows 11. This is an increase of 1.98 percentage points compared to the previous month. So, which operating systems are being used and how much?
Windows 11 dominance on Steam is on the rise!
With the rise of Windows 11, the proportion of Windows 10 users fell to 42.39%. That’s a decrease of 0.92% compared to the previous month. But when we look at the overall picture, Microsoft’s two major operating systems, Windows 10 and 11, cover 96.1% of Steam users.
Linux, meanwhile, is another notable system in the gaming world. Its user base has risen to 2.29%, representing an increase of 0.29%. macOS is still behind with 1.61% of the user base, but has seen a growth of 0.22%. Windows 11 continues to grow in popularity, despite some criticism of its gaming performance.
For example, some bugs that came with the 24H2 update affected the gameplay experience. These bugs include issues that cause games to crash when using the Auto HDR feature. But even these problems haven’t dampened gamers’ interest in Windows 11.
Microsoft operating systems have an overwhelming advantage among Steam users. Especially Windows 11 continues to consolidate its leadership in this field with the innovations it offers to the gaming industry. However, the fact that alternatives such as Linux and macOS have started to increase their user base is another remarkable development.
