Here’s the detailed process to change your password on Steam:
Via Steam application:
- Open the Steam app.
- Click on “Steam” in the top left corner.
- Navigate to the “Settings” tab (for Mac users, it’s “Preferences”).
- Open the “Security” section.
- Click on “Change Password.”
- Opt for “Send verification email to associated account’s email address.”
Via the web:
- Visit the Steam website and log in.
- Click on your username in the top right corner.
- Choose “account details” from the dropdown menu.
- Go to the “Account Security” section.
- Click on “Change Password.”
- Again, select “Send verification email to associated account’s email address.”
Post this, Steam Support will send an email to your associated account’s email. If you can’t locate the email, check your spam folder. Enter the 5-digit code from the email and your new password. You’ll receive a confirmation email once the password is changed.
Your new password should be different from previous ones and must meet the security requirements. If not, you will be prompted to choose a new one.
