Steam is introducing a major new feature for Early Access games, introducing a special warning system for games that have not been updated in a long time. Valve’s newly announced feature will clearly flag games that haven’t received an update in 12 months or more, allowing players to see this information before making a purchase decision.
Steam entered the new era with new decisions
The new update provides a great advantage, especially for players who are hesitant to spend money on unfinished or abandoned games. Previously, many gamers have been victimised by spending money on games where developers have either failed to deliver on promised features or stopped updating altogether. Steam will now show players the ‘last update date’ before purchasing these games, making it clear whether they carry a potential risk.

The new warning system will incentivise developers to regularly maintain their games, while allowing players to make a more informed purchasing decision.
Steam’s move aims to provide more transparency about the status of games, especially those in early access that have not received updates for a long time. In this way, players will be able to easily understand whether the game they purchased continues to be developed.
Valve’s move seems to aim to increase confidence in the Early Access system and make players more aware…. So do you think this feature will be enough? Should different measures be taken? Share your opinions with us!
