The European Commission has issued a stern warning to Elon Musk ahead of his long-awaited interview with Donald Trump. Elon Musk, who was warned not to publish posts that could violate the Digital Services Act, could lead to the closure of social media platform X if he does not comply with the restrictions.
Warning letter to Elon Musk from EU Commissioner Breton!
Musk, the owner of social media platform X, received a stern warning from the European Commission ahead of the planned interview between Elon Musk and Trump. Musk, who has been gaining a large place in the country’s politics with his biased posts for a while, has been caught in the focus of the EU Commission. The European Union, which wants to prevent some perceptions that may arise after the interview, sent a letter to Musk.
The letter written by EU Commissioner Thierry Breton reminded that X, which has more than 300 million users, has an obligation to comply with the Digital Services Act. Reminding Elon Musk that he has the responsibility to control the spread of harmful content that may occur after the interview, Brenton stated that the necessary measures should be taken immediately and said the following:
“I am writing to you regarding the recent events in the United Kingdom and the broadcast of a live chat between you and a US presidential candidate on your platform X, which will be accessible to users in the EU… We are monitoring the potential risks in the EU related to the spread of content that could incite violence, hatred and racism in connection with major political or social events around the world. Such content includes debates and interviews in the context of elections… I therefore ask you to immediately ensure the effectiveness of your systems and inform my team of the measures taken.”
Although we have shared a part of the full-page letter with you, the situation is very serious for Elon Musk. If Elon Musk does not listen to the warnings and there are posts on X that violate European Union laws, social media platform X may face an access ban. What do you think about this?
