Street Fighter, the iconic fighting series from the gaming world, is preparing to return to cinemas in partnership with Legendary Pictures and Capcom. The highly anticipated live-action film will be released in IMAX in October 2026. The film will also be the first film under Legendary’s new global distribution agreement with Paramount Pictures.
Street Fighter: Nostalgia and Action
Set in 1993, the story begins with Ryu and Ken Masters, two legendary fighters whose paths had once diverged, being invited by the mysterious Chun-Li to the next “World Warrior” tournament. However, this tournament will not only determine the best fighter but also force our heroes to confront ghosts of the past and a deadly conspiracy. The film aims to honor the spirit of the ’90s arcades while retelling the story in a modern way for a new generation of audiences.
The film stars prominent actors. Andrew Koji plays the legendary character Ryu, while Noah Centineo portrays his longtime friend and rival, Ken Masters. Callina Liang will play Chun-Li.
Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the production promises an epic fight extravaganza filled with hadoukens, kicks, and all the series’ favorite characters.
