Apple is reportedly planning to refresh the iPad Air in the spring of 2025. That’s a relatively quick refresh period compared to the company’s 18-24 month refresh cycle for the iPad Air. However, it appears that Apple is planning significant updates.
iPad Air could be refreshed in 2025
One of the most notable changes will be the redesigned Magic Keyboard, which will match the keyboards released for other iPad models. The new Air keyboard will feature an updated function row. However, it will retain the Smart Connector and will not upgrade to the aluminum construction of the iPad Pro keyboards.
Although Bloomberg editor Mark Gurman did not provide details about the processor, it is unlikely that Apple will use the M2 chip. Possible options include the M2 with a 10-core GPU; the M4 chip with 8 CPU and GPU cores. The M3 seems unlikely due to the costs of 3nm.
Other upgrades include 600 nits of brightness (up from 500 nits on the 11-inch model), Wi-Fi 6E/7 support, rear camera flash, Thunderbolt connectivity and microphone improvements.
