While Rockstar Games is counting down the days to the highly anticipated release of GTA 6, they are also continuing to add massive content to their veteran game, GTA Online. Players are questioning how the company can dedicate so much time to the online side amidst this busy schedule, and the “back-porting” theory has been proven with the latest update.
GTA 6 Trace in Michael de Santa Scene
With this week’s massive update, players gained access to exorbitantly priced mansions and had the chance to reunite with the legendary character Michael de Santa. However, observant fans noticed a towel worn by Mr. Faber in the cutscene where he meets Michael.
This towel, which has a level of detail unexpected for an ordinary in-game item, is identical to the towel seen in the second GTA 6 trailer, according to the GTAVI_Countdown account. This situation suggests that Rockstar is saving resources by transferring high-resolution assets prepared for GTA 6 to GTA Online, and also testing the graphics of the new game there.
The similarities aren’t limited to just a towel. The gyms and workout mechanics included in the update match scenes where we see Jason working out in the GTA 6 trailers. While this feature has existed since San Andreas, the updated mechanics smell like “GTA 6 testing.” Also, the newly added self-driving vehicles could be part of GTA 6’s advanced AI.
Previously, the Gauntlet Interceptor police car from the first trailer was also added to GTA Online. It seems Rockstar will continue to keep us occupied with GTA 6 elements until GTA 6 arrives.
So, do you think these details are coincidental, or is GTA Online truly a testing ground for GTA 6? Did you notice that towel? Share your thoughts in the comments!
