A surprising development has occurred in the tech world. Mozilla, the developer of Firefox, announced that it will continue providing security updates for older Windows and macOS operating systems.
Mozilla Extends Support for Firefox on Windows 7
The company had initially planned to end support for Firefox 115 Extended Support Release (ESR) for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 users in September. However, it was found that a significant number of Firefox users were still on older Windows versions.

To avoid inconveniencing users, Mozilla decided to extend the support period by another six months. According to the official schedule, Firefox 115 ESR will continue to receive security updates until September 2025.
Mozilla stated that it will review the situation again in August 2025 and will make a new announcement regarding the potential end-of-life date for ESR 115. This support only applies to users on Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and macOS versions 10.12 through 10.14.
Users with more up-to-date and supported operating systems can switch to the latest version, Firefox 135. Additionally, Firefox 135.0.1 has been released to address issues in dropdown menus, history, search, and other areas.
The latest browser version now also includes support for a new anti-tracking feature called Bounce Tracking Protection. It also comes with the ability to view open tabs on other devices through the relevant section in the Overview.
