While the electric car market is growing day by day, most of the brands that have a share of this market have been Chinese companies. Suzuki, known for its well-established off-road vehicles, has finally decided to enter the electric vehicle market and is making this move with one of its most popular vehicles. Suzuki Vitara will now come with an electric version called e-Vitara. Here are the details.
The most powerful version for Suzuki e-Vitara offers 135kW power
The electric version of the Vitara was developed based on the ‘eVX’ concept car announced by the company at motor shows. Introduced as Suzuki’s first electric vehicle, the e-Vitara was an indicator of the company’s change towards the electric car market.
The e-Vitara, which preserves its classic appearance as well as its modern design, also stands out with its robustness. When we look at the interior, there is a large screen similar to the IONIQ 5, while the company reflects the theme of ‘High Technology and Adventure’ for technology.
The vehicle, which comes with a highly efficient electric powertrain ‘eAxle’, is offered with an engine option with a battery of at least 49 kWh and a power of 106 kW. The top package comes with a 61kWh battery and the option of 2WD or 4WD. In addition, a 48kW electric motor is added to the rear axle in the all-wheel drive version, providing a total combined engine power of 135kW.
One of the most interesting features offered for e-Vitara is the electric four-wheel drive system called ‘ALLGRIP-e’. Thanks to the Trail Mode, the vehicle, which applies brakes to the rotating wheels, distributes the torque to the opposite wheel and increases off-road capability.
Measuring 4.2 metres in length, 1.8 metres in width and 1.6 metres in height, the vehicle is smaller than the others. The e-Vitara, which has not yet been priced, is expected to be offered for sale in the European market around 40 thousand Euros.
