An exciting news for Nintendo’s long-awaited next-generation console Switch 2 is on the agenda. The console’s announcement may be hours away. According to Nate The Hate, a famous leaker, Nintendo’s new handheld console will be announced on Thursday, January 16th. The leak has been confirmed by reliable sources, including Centro Leaks. The details are in our news…
Nintendo Switch 2 could be officially announced on January 16th
There are two different ways Nintendo’s announcement this week could take place. The company can either introduce the console in a surprise way or increase expectations by making an announcement the day before. Nintendo has followed different strategies in the past, with both planned announcements and sudden introductions. For example, the Switch Lite was unveiled in 2019 without prior announcement.
In recent weeks, the intensity of leaks has increased, especially with the appearance of a prototype of the Switch 2 at CES 2025. As for the console’s release date, they point to the end of March 2025 or the first half of the year. According to the leaks, the launch on January 16 will likely be limited to a short teaser.
This teaser may show the design of the console, but details on the game catalog will be shared at a later date. VGC’s Andy Robinson says that a full reveal could be delayed until February or March. Still, we expect the hardware power of the device to be showcased through a game demo during the reveal.
If you remember, when Nintendo unveiled the Switch in 2017, the first trailer showed the concept of a hybrid console and well-known games like Zelda: Breath of the Wild in the first trailer. It is thought that the new console’s promotional strategy may follow a similar path. There could also be hints of surprise games similar to Super Mario Odyssey during the reveal.
