Nintendo announced that it will organize a new event to show new games coming to the Switch console. The company will hold two launches together in a single day; Indie World and Nintendo Direct announcements will be made back to back.
Date given for Nintendo Direct
On August 27th, Nintendo will hold Indie World, an event focused on indie games. This will be followed by a Partner Showcase highlighting games from third-party developers. The event is expected to focus primarily on Switch games.
The Indie World stream will feature announcements and updates on indie games in development for Switch. Based on previous broadcasts, we can expect the stream to run for 20 minutes and cover indie titles coming to Switch.
Partner Showcase will feature descriptions of Switch games from third-party partners working with Nintendo. However, Nintendo won’t be announcing The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom or Metroid Prime 4 will not be announced.
Accordingly, the event is intended to primarily feature third-party and indie games. Nintendo also emphasized that “there will be no mention of the next console”. Although Switch 2 was not directly mentioned, we are unlikely to see a new console.
On the other hand, a while ago, Amazon CEO Christoph Hartmann made important statements about Nintendo Switch 2. Hartmann argued that Nintendo fans should not be in a hurry about the successor of Switch
