Tesla’s external battery accessory for the Cybertruck model has been removed from the company’s online configuration tool. This module, called a “range extender,” was offered to give the Cybertruck additional range.
Tesla Cybertruck’s external battery option has been canceled
Tesla had previously taken reservations for this accessory for a $2,000 down payment. However, the fact that this option is no longer available on the order page has raised questions about the fate of the product.

When the Cybertruck was first introduced, it was expected that the three-motor version would offer a range of over 500 miles and would be sold for $70,000. However, the range of the tri-motor model currently on the market was limited to 320 miles and its price went up to $100,000.
Similarly, the two-motor model, although the promised range of over 300 miles was provided, the starting price increased to $80,000. After the range expectations were below, Tesla developed an external battery pack, planned to be sold for $ 16,000, to compensate for this situation.
This module, placed in the Cybertruck’s chassis, increased the vehicle’s total range to approximately 445 miles. The accessory was initially planned for early 2025, then its release date was postponed to mid-2025. However, Tesla has not provided a new calendar or update in this process.
The range information that can be reached with this external battery is still included on the technical specifications page. However, its removal from the configuration tool means that the company has quietly suspended the project or postponed the launch to an indefinite date.
Tesla has not made any official statement on the subject so far. So what do you think about this? You can share your opinions with us in the comments section below.
