Ana sayfa / Electric Vehicles

Tesla has been working on the car and truck industry for a long time. The company has already brought a lot of changes to the vehicles such as autonomous driving, and more. Now, the brand made the first electric Semi trucks after five years they were first introduced. PepsiCo became the first owner of new Tesla Semi trucks. Here are the details about Tesla Semi trucks.

Tesla Semi comes with the same price and design

The company introduced the Semi trucks in December 2017. However, the production got delayed due to Covid-19 and global parts shortages in the technology market such as battery cell supply issues, and more. After five years, Elon Musk delivers the first Tesla Semi trucks to PepsiCo Frito Lay by saying, “Sorry for the delay.” Musk delivered the electric trucks to customers at an event at the company’s Gigafactory in Sparks, Nevada.

PepsiCo reserved 100 Semis shortly after the rumors about the company, and it received the first batch of trucks. Tesla claims that the Semi is powered by four independent motors on the rear axles. The electric truck can accelerate 0-60mph (0-100km) in 20 seconds, and has a battery range of up to 500 miles (805 km). The Semi will have two different battery options, including 300 miles (483 km) and 500 miles (805 km).

The electric truck would cost $150,000 for the 300-mile version, and $180,000 for the 500-mile version. However, prices could change due to inflation because Tesla’s passenger electric vehicle prices have increased since then. Tesla also aims to produce 50,000 of the trucks in 2024 while it can now produce 100 Semis a year.

Thanks to the functions of the truck, it will be a more energy-efficient, and friendly environment. Musk explains the truck, “Basically it’s like an elephant moving like a cheetah.” It will provide $70,000 in fuel savings compared to internal-combustion engines.
