Tesla is preparing to break new ground in autonomous driving technologies. A major update for the company’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) system has been announced. The new version, to be called Tesla FSD 12, will provide drivers with a number of advantages. Finally, Elon Musk also shared the date when FSD 12 will be introduced.
What does Tesla FSD 12 promise?
Elon Musk made Tesla owners curious with his statements in recent weeks. He stated that they wanted to announce the new FSD version towards the end of August. In the new post from Musk, it has been confirmed that the Tesla FSD 12 event will be held on August 26th at 4PM US time.
At the highly anticipated event, the 12th version of the main autonomous driving software will be explained. Musk has previously stated that with version 12 they will introduce full autonomy. This means that self-driving cars will not need human supervision.
Tomorrow night’s live broadcast is expected to showcase the innovations to be presented with FSD 12. For this, it seems likely that Musk will take demo drives in an autonomous Tesla.
Earlier this week, Musk joked that he would go to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s house as part of the drive. Since the fight between Zuckerberg and Musk has not yet taken place, it is thought that this joke will continue during the event.
While the new version of FSD is intriguing, it will be introduced at a time when Tesla is dealing with dozens of investigations on autonomous driving. As the company aims to bring fully autonomous vehicles to market, the technology needs to be proven safe.
