Tesla to impose $50,000 fine on those who sell its Cybertruck
The Tesla Cybertruck is perhaps one of the most anticipated cars of 2023. Earlier, CEO Elon Musk said that the company aims to release around 200,000 vehicles a year when it reaches full production capacity. This has raised curiosity with the first deliveries set for November 30. However, Tesla has announced that it will impose an interesting ban on owners.
Tesla will not allow Cybertruck sales for a year
Tesla will prevent Cybertruck owners from reselling their vehicles within the first year of taking delivery. Under the company’s new vehicle order terms, customers who take delivery of one of the first Cybertrucks in November will agree not to resell the vehicle within a year.
If they resell the Cybertruck, Tesla said it could seek an injunction preventing the transfer of ownership or seek $50,000 in damages from owners. This surprised those waiting for the electric pickup.
According to the company, it will be possible to return the vehicle in the first year, but no sale will be allowed. In other words, a cash payment can be received by deducting mileage and depreciation from the original price. On the other hand, if Tesla does not take the vehicle back, it will be allowed to be sold second-hand to another person.

Tesla’s decisions actually prevent the limited production Cybertruck from becoming a collector’s item. In addition, software such as FSD (Full Self-Driving) is also prevented from being transferred to someone else.
The first deliveries of the Cybertruck are scheduled to begin on November 30, nearly four years after the launch event. But according to Musk, ramping up production of the futuristic vehicle poses major challenges. In a recent interview, the CEO also said that Cybertruck could be a “grave” for them.
