Tesla’s humanoid robot project Optimus, which has been working on for years, has crossed another important threshold with the latest video released. In the images shared by the company recently; Optimus was seen to be able to dance on its own, without a wireless connection and in real time.
Tesla’s Optimus robot can dance
The Optimus project was first announced at the AI Day event held in 2021. At that time, a human dressed in a robot suit was brought to the stage, and a real prototype was not presented. After the first functional prototype was introduced in 2022, the robot came to the fore with basic balance problems.
In the latest video released, the dancing Optimus is seen moving completely autonomously without any external intervention. Tesla’s Optimus program head Milan Kovac stated that all movements of the robot work in real time and no remote control is made during the dance.
It is stated that a more balanced gait and improved body coordination are achieved thanks to the improvements in the simulation infrastructure. When compared to rival companies Boston Dynamics, Agility Robotics, Figure and Unitree; Optimus was left behind for a long time.
However, with the dance performance, Tesla has re-entered the competition in this field strongly. The next step is mass production. CEO Elon Musk announced that the robot will be tested in domestic use in 2025 and official sales will begin in 2026.
The estimated sales price of Optimus is expected to be between $25,000 and $30,000. So what do you think about this robot? You can share your opinions with us in the comments section below.
