Despite the fact that the PS5 leads its competitors in sales, it hasn’t seen as many exclusive games as previous generations. The hopes for a PS5 version of Insomniac Games’ Sunset Overdrive, which was initially developed for Windows and later for Xbox, have been dashed. The company stated that they are too busy to develop the game.
Disappointing news on the PS5 front
Today, Insomniac Games, one of Sony’s largest global developers known for the Marvel’s Spider-Man, Resistance, and Ratchet & Clank series, announced that they are currently working on Marvel’s Wolverine and the PC version of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Recently, in response to a question on their official social media accounts about why a PS4/PS5 port of Sunset Overdrive hasn’t been made, Insomniac Games replied, “We are busy with Marvel’s Wolverine.”
This is quite puzzling for a company like Insomniac Games, especially since leaked roadmaps in recent months have shown that the company was developing multiple games simultaneously. This raises the question: could there be a dispute with Microsoft over the rights to the game, which was initially released only for Windows and later for Xbox?
Moreover, considering the game was originally released in 2014, the company might not have any plans to revisit Sunset Overdrive.
Who knows, perhaps Insomniac Games will surprise fans with a sequel instead of a port or remake. What do you think about this situation? Share your thoughts with us on our social media accounts or in the comments section.
