Gears of War, one of Microsoft’s iconic game series, is meeting PlayStation users for the first time in its history. Gears of War: Reloaded, the remastered version of the original game released in 2006, will also be released for PlayStation 5 on August 26, 2025.

Gears of War is coming to the PlayStation platform

A remastered version, Reloaded, re-presents the story and atmosphere of the original game with modern technologies. Offering 4K resolution, HDR support, frame rates up to 60 fps in story mode and 120 fps in multiplayer mode, the game takes the audio and visual experience to the next level with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision technologies.

The game’s developer is The Coalition, the main studio of the Gears series. Sumo Interactive and Disbelief studios also contributed to the remake process. Reloaded will also offer all original downloadable content for free.

These include an additional section included in the story mode and cosmetic items for multiplayer modes. The game also includes unlockable characters and additional digital content.

Gears of War: Reloaded, which will be available for $40, also offers a free upgrade for users who have previously purchased Gears of War: Ultimate Edition digitally. This will allow players with an existing digital library to upgrade to the new version without paying any additional fees.
