New leaks have emerged regarding Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 series. Recently, the iPhone 16e was announced as a more affordable alternative, replacing the SE series. Meanwhile, Apple’s flagship iPhone 17 lineup is highly anticipated. According to the latest leaks, there won’t be a significant improvement in charging speeds.
Is the iPhone 17 series’ charging speed disappointing?
Sources indicate that the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max will support a maximum wired charging speed of 35W. Apple did not officially disclose the charging speeds of the iPhone 16 series, but tests showed that they reached a maximum of 30W. While the next generation is expected to see a slight increase, no major improvements are anticipated.

In charging tests of the iPhone 16 series, devices typically charged at 20W under normal usage, but speeds reached up to 38W during intensive tasks like benchmarking and gaming. Apple’s approach aims to ensure fast charging even under heavy use. However, since current models already reach around 35W, it appears that the iPhone 17 series won’t offer a significant upgrade in charging speed.
Apple is known for taking a cautious approach to battery upgrades. While even a minor improvement is welcomed by users, Apple’s charging technology is still considered behind competitors like Samsung, Google, and OnePlus, whose flagship models offer significantly faster charging speeds.
The iPhone 17 series is expected to bring some design changes. Reports suggest that the rear camera module will be redesigned. Additionally, titanium may be removed from the Pro models and instead be exclusive to the iPhone 17 Air. Apple reportedly plans to position the iPhone 17 Air as a replacement for the Plus series.
The iPhone 17 series is expected to be unveiled in September. As the launch date approaches, more details about the devices are likely to emerge.
