Huawei’s second-generation triple-folding phone is expected to launch soon. Ahead of its official debut, the device has started appearing on certification platforms, most recently surfacing in the MIIT database. The model carries the number GRL-AL20 and is believed to be the successor to the Mate XT, which was previously introduced with the model number GRL-AL10.
Huawei Mate XT 2 Receives MIIT Certification
The MIIT certification confirms that the upcoming Huawei Mate XT 2 will support 5G connectivity and satellite communication features. It’s also expected to include the Tiantong satellite calling function, which the company previously offered in the Mate X5 and Mate XT models.

Reports indicate that the foldable device will feature a 10.2-inch triple-folding display. It will utilize Huawei’s self-developed Tian Gong hinge system, which promises a thinner and more durable structure.
On the hardware side, the device will be powered by the Kirin 9020 chipset. This processor follows a 1+3+4 core architecture, consisting of one high-performance Taishan core clocked at 2.5 GHz, three mid-performance cores at 2.15 GHz, and four efficiency cores running at 1.6 GHz. The graphics will be handled by the Maleoon 920 GPU, operating at 840 MHz.
Huawei is also expected to fully transition to eSIM support with this model, potentially eliminating physical SIM card slots. According to reports, the official launch may take place in September.
