Samsung has announced its new microSD card series, the P9 Express. The company claims these new cards are the fastest yet, boasting read speeds of up to 800MB/s.
What does the Samsung P9 Express offer?
Based on the PCIe interface and NVMe protocol, these cards can transfer data four times faster than standard UHS-I cards. Samsung emphasizes that the card is specifically optimized for next-generation gaming platforms like the Nintendo Switch 2.

The 800MB/s sequential read speed achieved through the SD Express interface makes the P9 Express ideal not only for gaming but also for editing 4K video or quickly transferring large files. However, the company has not released any information about the card’s write speeds.
The P9 Express supports Host Memory Buffer, which reduces loading times by utilizing the device’s own memory. Furthermore, Dynamic Thermal Guard technology ensures the card remains cool and stable even during extended use. The card also offers full protection against water, dust, drops, and temperature fluctuations.
Samsung will offer the P9 Express microSD cards in two capacities: 256GB and 512GB. The cards are scheduled to go on sale globally in November. Prices are set at $77 for the 256GB and $132 for the 512GB.
