Following its recent acquisition of Italian company Piaggio Aerospace, Baykar is showcasing its P.180 Avanti Evo+ aircraft, developed by the company, for the first time at the IDEF 2025 International Defense Industry Fair.
P.180 Avanti Evo+ unveiled
The aircraft, known as the “Ferrari of the Sky,” arrived at Atatürk Airport for the fair. The P.180 Avanti Evo+, with its twin-engine turboprop design, can reach a speed of 927 kilometers per hour. Its composite fuselage and aerodynamic design ensure low fuel consumption, while its interior cabin features a premium comfort.

With Baykar’s acquisition of Piaggio Aerospace, both civilian and military versions of the P.180 Avanti Evo+ are planned to take a new place in Baykar’s product line. Baykar had previously distinguished itself with its systems developed for unmanned aerial vehicles.
With this acquisition, manned platforms have also become a part of the company’s strategic planning. The aircraft is expected to be used in areas such as long-range reconnaissance, VIP transport, and special mission flights.
Baykar CEO Haluk Bayraktar announced that the Avanti Evo+ aircraft will be re-entered into production, transforming the platform into a competitive product in both civil aviation and defense.
The statement also revealed that the company will relocate its production activities to Europe and establish a strategic center for this purpose. It was also stated that this center will be used in the production of existing unmanned systems such as the Akıncı and TB2.
The Avanti Evo+ exhibited at the fair retains Piaggio’s iconic design approach in civil aviation, while utilizing Baykar’s defense industry experience to adapt it to different mission concepts.
Work is planned to restructure the military version of the aircraft in terms of electronic equipment, mission systems, and weapons integration, based on the aircraft’s existing airframe and performance specifications.
Baykar’s new move in Europe demonstrates that the company is preparing to establish a broader international presence, not only in terms of products but also in terms of production and technology transfer. The P.180 Avanti Evo+ platform is expected to play a significant role in this expansion.
