According to new news, the next game in the Battlefield series is set to revolutionize the gaming industry with its groundbreaking focus on realistic destruction effects. The new Battlefield game is being developed by Ripple Effect, the studio formerly known as DICE LA, under the umbrella of EA.
New Battlefield will bring an era of environmental destruction
A recent job posting for VFX director at Ripple Effect has a job description of creating “the most realistic and exciting destruction effects in the industry.” This description hints at an immersive and dynamic gaming experience where the environment reacts realistically to the chaos of war.
Ripple Effect’s attempt to create a standalone game marks a new chapter for the studio, which has previously played a supporting role for other studios, including its collaboration with DICE on the development of Battlefield 2042.
This move to develop a unique Battlefield experience is also in line with EA’s strategy to create a “connected BF universe.” This strategic shift, announced in December 2021, marks a period of restructuring for the BF series in response to mixed reviews of Battlefield 2042.
As part of this restructuring, DICE is actively working on the future multiplayer experience for the Battlefield series and is preparing to co-develop its next single-player story with Ridgeline Games, a studio founded by Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto.
The collaboration aims to revitalize the series and deliver a gaming experience that not only addresses past criticisms but also pushes the boundaries of innovation.
Ripple Effect’s role in preparing an “all-new Battlefield experience” is also a sign that we will see innovations built on the foundations of the series. While focusing on realistic destruction effects, it is possible to see a visually stunning and immersive battlefield environment that dynamically reacts to the intensity of battle.
