Apple released the first 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro models with Touch Bar back in 2016. The Touch Bar is an OLED touchscreen positioned above the Mac’s keyboard, providing users with customizable controls, ranging from traditional function keys to app-specific shortcuts and features.
Apple classifies devices as vintage after five years have passed from the last distribution, and adds to vintage product list. When considering the first MacBook Pro models with Touch Bar were discontinued in 2017, we can say it’s time to say goodbye to these devices. Apple has announced that 9 products will be classified as vintage by the end of this month. This will include the first Touch Bar MacBook Pro models.
End of the road for the MacBook Pro 2016
According to the MacRumors, Apple will be adding the first 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro models with Touch Bar to it’s vintage product list on July 31. The company already sent information to Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers this week.
Devices which added to the vintage list will be able to receive repair support from Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers for up to two years. But it will depend on the stock status of the parts.
So, here are the Apple devices will be adding to vintage product list on July 31;
- MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Two Thunderbolt Ports)
- MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Four Thunderbolt Ports)
- MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016)
- MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015)
- MacBook (12-inch, Early 2016)
- iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2015)
- iMac (27-inch, Retina 5K, Late 2015)
- iPad Pro (9.7-inch, Wi-Fi)
- iPad Pro (9.7-inch, Wi-Fi + Cellular)
