Peugeot has restarted the GTi series, which it discontinued in 2020, with a fully electric model after five years. The brand’s first fully electric performance car, the E-208 GTi, was the first model to carry the French manufacturer’s sporty heritage into the electric era. While Volkswagen has not yet introduced its electric GTI model, Peugeot’s move directly affects the competition in the segment.
The fully electric Peugeot E-208 GTi has arrived
The E-208 GTi was developed by Peugeot Sport engineers. In this respect, it was the first example that showed that the brand would continue its performance-oriented approach in fully electric vehicles after hybrid technologies.

The new model is significantly more powerful than the standard E-208. The electric motor in the vehicle produces 280 horsepower and 345 Nm of torque. The maximum speed of the model, which reaches 100 km/h from 0 in just 5.7 seconds, was announced as 180 km/h.
This performance-oriented structure has caused a decrease in the vehicle’s range. According to WLTP standards, the E-208 GTi’s range has decreased from 433 kilometers to 350 kilometers. However, the vehicle retains its standard 54 kWh battery. Thanks to 100 kW fast charging support, the battery can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in approximately 30 minutes.
The hardware updates made to the model were not limited to the engine alone. The suspension system was stiffened and the vehicle was lowered by 30 mm to increase road holding. In addition, the front track width was increased by 56 mm and the rear track width by 25 mm.
The 18-inch wheels reference the design of past GTi models, while the red exterior color creates a style reminiscent of the 205 GTi model. Aerodynamic details such as the front spoiler and rear diffuser complete this sporty identity.
In the interior, classic GTi details have been reinterpreted with modern materials. The front seats are reminiscent of the 205 GTi 1.9 model with integrated headrests and red stripes. The patterns on the passenger seat are a reference to the 205 GTi 1.6.
The E-208 GTi will compete directly with models such as the Abarth 500e, Cupra Born VZ, Mini JCW Electric, Alpine A290 and MG4 XPower in the electric hot hatch segment. So what do you think about this vehicle? You can share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
