The last visual update to the Gemini interface introduced a four-color glow. Now, Google appears to be switching to a full-screen animation. Currently, the pill-shaped Gemini layer slides up from the bottom of the screen, spreading a glow in shades of red, yellow, green, and blue. It then fades completely to blue and disappears. Here’s the new animation…
New Visual Update for the Gemini Interface
Starting today, Android users are seeing a new glow that moves around the screen. While blue is predominant, there are also shades of green, red, and yellow. This is very similar to the Gemini Live waveform palette. As the animation moves, some of the waves extend toward the center of the screen. There’s no longer a glow around the “Ask Gemini” box.

This new design is different from the Circle to Search animation, which also covers the center of the screen. However, it shares similarities with Circle to Search’s translation animation and is closer to the visual preferred by Apple Intelligence/Siri on the iPhone.
This feature hasn’t been rolled out widely yet; the last visual update came in August, when Gemini’s “spark” icon was redesigned.
As a reminder, the most recent Project Astra demo, presented at the I/O event in May 2025, used a continuous blue glow around a Pixel 9 Pro while Gemini was controlling the device and navigating between apps. This demo also used a chat head.
