Stephen King’s horror classic “IT” (IT) returns to audiences with a new series after the big screen. HBO has set a release date for the long-awaited series “IT: Welcome to Derry,” and the highly anticipated series premieres on October 26th.
IT: Welcome to Derry is here
“IT: Welcome to Derry” is a prequel to recent box office hits. The series, a prequel to two acclaimed films released in 2017 and 2019, sheds light on the town’s past.
The story takes place in 1962, exactly 27 years before the events of the films. The story centers on the town of Derry, home to Pennywise, the clown who once terrorized the town every 27 years. However, this time, the story centers on entirely new characters, including family members of some of the characters from the films.
Bill Skarsgård, who also portrayed the character in the films, returns as the terrifying clown Pennywise. Skarsgård is joined in the series’ cast by Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, and James Remar. Directed by Andy Muschietti, who also directed the films, Muschietti directed the first four episodes of the series.
HBO previously announced an October premiere date for the series, but didn’t specify a specific date. Now, the exact date has been confirmed: “IT: Welcome to Derry” will premiere simultaneously on HBO and HBO Max on October 26.
